Join us at be’kech on Friday 7th December from 19:30 for a very special night – „Speak your truth and eat mantu: an Afghan cultural night including traditional food, writing, sharing and socialising. Open to all – come along and bring your friends!

This event is part of our 2018 residency series at be’kech, leading up to the upcoming launch of the zine: ‚What’s Afghan Punk Rock, Anyway?“

Event details:

Bring you appetite for food and words! In our last event, we spoke about taboos, things that we feel left with alone, speaking about things that seem unspeakable. This time we will invite you to an interactive (yet playful) collective creative writing event on themes around “things I cannot say out loud” – funny, serious, but hopefully always truthful.

At the event we will give you a prompt. Then you’ll have 5-10 minutes of prep time to down some ideas of how your story will flow. You’ll then have an opportunity to share your story with the rest of us (but only if you feel comfortable doing so!) Come and join us for a night of collective eating and writing.

Be’kech resident bio:

Armeghan Taheri is an Afghan-German writer and actress working on the intersection between art and social justice. In her literary practice she aims to turn legacies of trauma, loss, survival and immigration into intellectual and political knowledge. Armeghan holds an LL.B. European Law from Maastricht University and a LL.M. degree from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

She is the founder of „What’s Afghan Punk Rock anyway?“ and a resident at Be’kech.

The ‚What’s Afghan Punk Rock, Anyway?‘ zine launch is taking place at be’kech on the 12th December! See the event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/951747681682603/
