Join us for the launch of the magazine consisting of an evening with a panel talk about what this magazine means to us, reflection on lessons learned, where we wish to go from here next year, and finally celebrate and dance.

With ‚What’s Afghan Punk Rock, anyway?‘ we are hoping to reflect storytelling that is powerful, yet vulnerable and truthful – a place to embrace our full complex humanity unapologetically, as a way of resistance. In addition, we are hoping to make it a space in which we can speak out loud collective frustrations and nuances of our intersectional experience as a starting point to a wider platform of solidarity.

A print magazine was the closest we could get to a somewhat safe and intentional space. Not only is there no nasty comment section, but also it will hopefully end up in the hands of those who really want to hear our stories.

We received worldwide submissions – heavy, sad, hilarious, bold. From poetry, comics, essays to a sci-fi story told by brilliant souls. You’ll have a chance to get a copy of the magazine on the night.

Wir freuen uns euch endlich das Magazin What’s Afghan Punk Rock, anyway? präsentieren zu können.

Hierzu laden wir euch herzlichst zur Launch Party ein. In einer Podiumsdiskussion werden die Autor*innen über die Bedeutung und Ziele des Magazins und die hiermit verbunden Erfahrungen sprechen. Anschließend wollen wir zusammen mit euch feiern und tanzen.

Mit dem Magazin What’s Afghan Punk Rock, anyway? verbinden wir die Hoffnung Geschichten erzählen zu können, die kraftvoll, aber auch verletzlich und wahrheitsgetreu sind – einen Ort zu schaffen, an dem unsere komplexe Menschlichkeit unwillkürlich als ein Weg des Widerstands verstanden werden kann. Außerdem hoffen wir, es zu einem Ort zu machen, an dem wir laute kollektive Frustrationen und Nuancen unserer intersektionalen Erfahrungen zum Ausdruck bringen können um diesen als Ausgangspunkt zur Schaffung einer breiteren Solidaritätsplattform nutzen zu können.

Ein Printmagazin war für uns das, was einem sicheren und intentionalen Ort am nächsten kam. Es gibt nicht nur keinen unangenehmen Kommentarspalten, sondern es wird auch hoffentlich in die Hände derer gelangen, die unsere Geschichten wirklich hören wollen.

Wir haben weltweite Einsendungen erhalten – bewegende, traurige, witzige, mutige. Von Gedichten, Comics, Essays bis zu einer Science-Fiction-Story. Verfasst von brillanten Seelen.
